Life Changes…and the resignation email
So we lived just under a year in Hanoi, then after countless and I mean countless trips and emails to the US Embassy they refused to consider me as a special case and the only way to adopt was to live as a family for two years in Vietnam. A decision had to be made, the Vietnamese had approved me to adopt so I was so close but I had to give up everything in New York to fulfill my dreams of two children. On June 14th 2010 I sent out the email to the office telling them of my resignation. I had forgotten all about the press ( I’m so removed from all that) and they picked up the news from Twitter!! Here is the email

Wow this is a hard email to send but this is to let you know that I have stepped down as CEO of The Beggars Group. An incredibly hard decision to have made, but in order to adopt another Vietnamese child I have to live here for another two years, and as much as I love my job, my need to add to my family is just too strong. Matt will continue running the company in the fantastic way he has done over the last year.
I am fortunate in that I won’t be leaving you entirely so don’t delete me from your life or address book just yet. I am going to be working part time remotely on various projects that I can do to support everyone, thank you Martin for still having me involved.
I will miss all of you and am so proud at what we have all achieved in the last 14 years, there are no other people I would have wanted to work with. I’m here on email, IM and skype should you ever want to get in touch, and I will see you in July which will be our last visit home for two years as my second son or daughter won’t be able to leave Vietnam.
As before if anyone wants to come and visit you are very welcome. We are moving to Da Nang (Central Vietnam) tomorrow, so I can manage financially plus the lure of year round sun and the beach doesn’t hurt. I have a gorgeous three bed-roomed apartment lined up so plenty of room for visitors.
Best wishes to you all, and congratulations on 2010 which looks like it will be our best year ever!

OMG – Catherine Evans and I were just talking about you yesterday and she decided to do a search on you and came up with this fabulous blog/site.
I was in Vietnam in November, I wish I knew you were there – how I would love to catch up.
I usually get to Vietnam every year or so, have been doing so for the last 10 years.
You life sounds full and wonderful Lesley, I’m really happy for you. Would love to see you next time I’m in town.

Lesley,
I am thrilled for you and promise to keep up a little more on your blog (shame on me!). I am jealous of your ability to stay and adopt; I so would have love to have done so myself. Congrats on everything and I’ll try to swing by Da Nang when I visit next summer.
